ONE 90 GRAIN's Debut Album To Be Co-Produced By BLACKFOOT Singer
August 7, 2006ONE 90 GRAIN, the Spartanburg, South Carolina-based "Southern progressive metal" band featuring former SHAITAN MAZAR drummer Brett Goode, will trek to Muscle Shoals, Alabama in October to begin tracking its debut album with Jay Johnson, the current lead singer and guitarist for the legendary southern rock band BLACKFOOT and son of producer Jimmie Johnson, at the mixing board. In addition to engineering the project, Jay will also be the co-producer for the album. The band plans to finish recording and release the album sometime in early 2007.
According to a press release, "ONE 90 GRAIN was formed in 2005 by four friends that have played in various other upstate bands over the years, but never with this particular group of musicians. All of the guys in the band come from different musical backgrounds and influences which has created their unique sound and style. Guitarist Hughie Elliot has a bluesy style mixed with Van Halen-like passages. Mike Huskey is a very aggressive bass player that falls between the thunder of Gene Simmons and the technical ability of RUSH's Geddy Lee. On drums is Brett Goode, whose style takes you back to the great drummers of the '70s but with the passion and ferocity of modern-day metal. Last but not least, is vocalist Donnie Ratliff. Donnie adds a Southern rock feel reminiscent of SKYNYRD, but with the raw power of Bon Scott."
